Basically the same thing. Ipod is the name of Apple's mp3 player. If you don't want to spend the big bucks on an IPOD, you can get a Microsoft Zune, or many other generic type MP3 players.

Count my vote for iPod..
Ipod is the first preference of people who prefer quality than cost

What makes the iPod such better quality anyway? Or is it one of those things where "well, everyone says it's great, so it must be"? It would take a lot of convincing for me to hand over the asking price for one.

a good mp4 player
not a cheap one tho the cheap mp4 players suck

or i pod... can't argue with their functionality but Addopting itunes is a hastle altho you can easily use a ipod winamp plug in to avoid itunes.

but after u get the i pod dont forget to get some protection for naked
i- pods scratch pretty easily against change or keys or rogue sand particles in ones pocket.... i dropped my mp3 player in mud ,dropped it countless times, jammed it in the door of a car a few times. and the damn things still going..

i sat down with my ipod and a penny in my pocket and the screen broke.

or you forgot it in your rear pocket than you sat down and now its bent.
..
but they work so what can you do.

honestly...
i had a zune for 2 years, and the thing was, well, a total piece of trash. it randomly starts freezing even if you treat it like gold. i have had to hold myself back from smashing it into a wall in a fit of frustration more than a few thousand times. it doesn't show up as another hard drive on my computer, whereas the ipod does, meaning that you can't use it for extra storage. only about a fourth of the songs actually WORK without freezing 36 times. gah. i hate zunes.

i've had an ipod for a while now, the thing is AMAZING. itunes is so much better than the zune software. you don't need some quad processor to run it without lag. it plays smoothly, and comes with much more features. the whole "LOL WIRELESS" thing on the zune, in the end, is useless. i never used it once.

anyway...
GET AN IPOD.
BELIEVE ME ON THIS ONE!

What about the scratching issues dafunk mentioned, Crystal? Ever have any problems like that with it getting damaged easily? Not that I think I could afford one anytime soon but I sure couldn't if it was going to get messed up within a short space of time.

eh..logic dictates ipods the better buy if you can get it on some sort of sale..
anything over 200$ for an ipod is not realistic. imo

if i had the $ to get an ipod
i think id rather spend it on a functional fashion statement like
shoes shirt or pants perhaps ...or a regular decent mp4 player and then buy some cd's or movies with the left over cash. and have bus fair left over! and maby pay rent ontime! and not have to eat kd for the next 4 weeks to balance the budget of dropping 250$ on a 1 trick pony device.
that constantly degrades very quickly upon removing it from its over priced packaging.

instead of jumping through apples i-hoops over paying initially only to find out they want you to pay for more when u install it.

then having to have itunes convert every song to its funky little format = X2 the transfer time. per song

if one of your ipod cables happen to falter on you prepare to bend over because ipod cables aren't as cheap as a standardized usb cable

And what ever you do don't let i-tunes manage your media folder it will create Huge unnavigable folder strings for Every individual song!
(may have been fixed its been along time).

quickly install i-tunes to register your ipod then uninstall it and run to winamp and get the plug in

if your on a mac then ignore this entire post.

iPod's are nice - if you have a big budget. They are delicate, so you will need to buy expensive accessories, and they don't come with many extra features (no FM player, no recording device, etc).

Some iPod rip-off's are cheaper than iPod's, but offer more features (such as the ones listed above). You have to be careful though because often times they have no warranty.
