I need to get myself either a VPS or dedicated server real soon. Ive looked around alot: theplanet, liquidweb, limestone and others.

I cant really decide. My favorite so far is ThePlanet - i got a custom quote from them.

Im going more towards a dedi, rather than a VPS at the moment as i know 100% that within a few weeks i will have to upgrade anyway.

Out of the sites i mentioned (or others) which one would you recommend?

I don't need a control panel but i need good support. Oh and it should be Linux.

I had several servers at quite a few companies back when I ran my webhosting company. I thought the planet was good, and burst was acceptable (ok for the price). When I got out, I was tired of the unmanaged services, and ended up going with a VPS from servint

This site is hosted on that VPS - It's on some super monster box, and they handle all the support. I'd recommend servint.

I agree with terry. Generally if you see a price that is lower then the average, its not a bargain it comes with terrible support. Support>Price when it comes to servers, trust me.

I have had a dedicated server with Pair.com and I was very happy with them. They might not be the cheapest but they are extremely reliable. Many large companies have their dedicated servers with them.

Its a bit old this thread but may be of use to someone in the future.

Are you looking for unmanaged or managed?
Where would you like your server to be hosted? (geographic location)

What specs are you looking for.

CPU
Disk space (raid?)
Network

Please provide more info
